Your Teacher

Caren Rettie is a highly qualified teacher of languages. She has been teaching languages for 25 years and is especially experienced in teaching English courses for adults.

She employs accelerated teaching methods and neuro-linguistic techniques to ensure you make fast progress. These methods promote long-term learning, so you will not forget what you learn. Caren adapts the content, style and pace of her teaching to your ability and needs, allowing you to improve most effectively. With 3-4 hours of teaching each morning, English conversation during the day and at mealtimes you will benefit with her English homestay programmes from total immersion in English.

Accommodation

Stay in a comfortable family home in Richmond, West London. Enjoy a warm welcome from your host and teacher.

Sleeping

Large bedroom has a double bed, sitting area and TV, with a bay window overlooking a quiet tree-lined street. You will have your own private bathroom with a power shower and bath.

 

Eating

Enjoy typical English cooking. You will share breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner with your hosts. Mealtimes are a good opportunity to practise your conversation skills after the English classes.

Relaxation & Activities

Usually there is some free time in the afternoons for sightseeing and relaxing, after the English lessons. There is a large garden for relaxation, and the location is convenient for central London, Wimbledon and local parks.

You can also choose to be accompanied on any of the activities by your teacher. You will continue to speak English and gain further confidence and fluency. A programme can be prepared for beginners or more advanced students.

Richmond Park

5 minutes walk

This beautiful Royal Park has free roaming deer and acres to explore. Cycle hire, horse-riding and golf available.

 

Central London

30 minutes by train

Visit museums and galleries, go to the theatre or opera, eat out, go shopping or sightseeing

 

Richmond upon Thames

5 minutes by bus

Richmond has excellent shops, cafes and restaurants, riverside walking and boat trips to Hampton Court and Greenwich

 

Walking

Visit nearby Kew Gardens or Richmond Park,or walk along the River Thames. Take afternoon tea in an authentic English tearoom or stop off at a picturesque riverside pub

 

Shopping

Shop at famous stores like Harrods, Harvey Nichols, Hamleys and Selfriges. Or discover exclusive antique shops and boutiques.

 

Cooking and Baking

Learn traditional English cooking and baking. Anything from kedgeree to shepherd's pie, from scones to apple crumble
